Check if the database is read-only:
1) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
2) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Database Properties...'. (The <title> Properties sheet appears, where <title> is the title of the database.)
3) Click the 'General' tab.
4) Check to see if the 'Read only' check box is checked in the 'Attributes' group.
